Search Console 

Search Console, formerly known as Google Webmaster tool, is a free service offered by the Google. It is the basic tool that is used during SEO practice. It helps to measure site’s traffic, see keyword performances, fix various issues like title duplication, meta description duplication, its length etc. Google consider search console as a mock point. Because it acts as communicator between the user and the google.

 

All the SEO activities are done in a controlled form using this platform. The webmasters can easily target specific country, language, audience and also helps to fix various issues related to mobile compatibility, device compatibility and browser compatibility.

 

For verification, first copy the URL and go to the search console. After reaching the search console, there can see 2 options called domain and URL prefix. Paste the URL to the URL prefix as it is a subdomain. Click continue button and then click the property to verify. After that, select the URL inspection option and paste the URL and press enter. If it shows that the URL is unavailable, click Test live option. Now the URL will be shown as available. To crawl the page click request index option.

 

If the Id used to login search console is same as Gmail Id, then the verification will be done automatically. Otherwise, verification should be done.

 

Methods of verification

 

(1)HTML File verification method

This is the method that the Google mostly recommend to verify the site. Google will provide a html file and this file should be uploaded to the root directory of the control panel of the website and click the verify button. Then the verification is done.

 

(2) HTML Tag verification

HTML tag verification is a method in which a html meta tag is used to verify the account. For this, first copy the html meta tag from the search console. Then paste this tag into the site’s home page. It should go in the head section before the first body section and click verify. Verification is done.

 

(3)  Google Analytics

It is method in which the verification is done using the Analytics tracking code. Google analytics is a free source provided by the google for doing the SEO practices. Details about website visits, user’s interaction time etc. will be available from this.

 

(4)  Google Tag Manager

Google Tag manager is a tag management system that is used to update tags on the website. Container snippet, a java script code, is pasted at the head and the body section. So, the changes can be made without even knowing the coding.

 

(5)  Domain Name Provider

It is a verification method done by adding a TXT verification record, provided by the google, to the domain hosts DNS record.
